The June issue of The Paraclete - "The Magazine for the Legal Professional," features an article about the resurgence of the Pinellas County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (PACDL). This organization of 48 local lawyers promotes the zealous defense of the accused through the exchange of information and ideas. The "Paraclete" is published ten times per year by the St. Petersburg Bar Association and reaches judges & lawyers in St. Petersburg, Clearwater and all other areas within Pinellas County.
The classical Greek term "paraclete" was used to describe "one who consoles, comforts or makes free." It was also an ancient term used to portray "one who advocates for justice on behalf of another." With over twelve-hundred members, the St. Petersburg Bar Association has a long history of their commitment to fostering excellence in the local legal community.
The Paraclete article highlights some of PACDL's achievements since Marc Pelletier was elected president of the organization in October of 2010. It also applauds Marc's recent meeting with Sheriff Coats that was successful in quickly overturning a PCSO policy that had limited criminal defense lawyers' efforts to visit inmates within the Pinellas County Jail.
Marc Pelletier graduated with honors from Stetson University College of Law where he was selected as a "Teaching Fellow" for the legal research and writing department. After receiving his Juris Doctorate degree, he went on to become a state prosecutor for the twentieth judicial circuit. In 2004, Marc joined the St. Petersburg law firm of Russo & Russo, where he limits his practice to the areas of DUI and criminal defense.
